Color and Surface
Through this series of patterns and prints, I set out to explore ways in which repetition could impact color and composition. During my first trip to Japan, I came across the idea that repetition in design grabs attention, but it’s the small "errors" or deviations that really catch your attention. This concept, where slight differences break up the repetition, has influenced my work, as I use subtle or more obvious shifts to invite deeper engagement with the pattern.

Starting with hand-drawn abstract shapes, I compress and repeat them, creating complex patterns and color gradients. My recent risograph prints focus on using pattern in a more meditative way, shifting from previous designs that were more inspired by textile swatches and their tactility.
